I've been using an iPhone (3gs, 4s, 5s, 6, now 6s Plus) and Blackberry Torch combo on and off for 6 years now and there is just nothing which beats it, anything the BB can't do my iPhone does. But anything business-related the BB is just seamless. Also sliding up screen and QWERTY keyboard is totally unique and is my favourite thing about it. • Rating 0 • •.
Hello everybody, i've been using an old 9800 lately (i never used one before, so i was curious to see how it would perform nowdays) and i found out that whatsapp is not supported on this device anymore, when it's still working fine on the 9780 (which i still use here and there) After installing the latest available relase 2.16.18, i get to a page saying that the device is not supported anymore and it's time to upgrade to a newer model. I loaded the latest OS available xx.749, still no luck. Is that a common thing? Maybe it stopped working months ago, but i just tried to install it the other day.any workaround? Thanks a lot! I fired up my 9800 Torch last night, after about a months since I've put it up for sale.
I was curious about a few things, mainly regarding the OP's question. After trying to open WhatsApp, I got the same message stating that the phone is no longer compatible and that I should change to one which is. I've checked the WhatsApp page and you can still download the app for BBOS devices with OS versions 5 and up (it explicitly states it's for OS6). Free Download Golden Palominos Pure Rapidshare Programs To Make Beats. In a contradictory way, I later found a link where WhatsApp states it will only keep supporting BlackBerry OS7 and up until the end of the year. This sucks, but we knew it was coming. WhatsApp is cutting support little by little. If other BBOS devices are still able to connect to WhatsApp, I'd suggest you don't update and just use it until it ultimately breaks.

Likewise, I'm also encountering problems when trying to update my BlackBerry ID to use BlackBerry World. I read in another thread, Blaze suggests needing BIS.
It's funny, cause I was actually able to access it before with no BIS, prior to security wiping and putting the phone up for sale. To those who suggest 'upgrading' to other phones, please keep your comments to yourselves, unless you're willing to provide some useful insight. Like the OP, I have other phones, a Passport and a PRIV. I'm just testing out stuff in hopes of helping others who might actually be facing such an issue. Posted with my powerful and masterful Passport! I think they are still 'updating' these pages.the truth is that without whatsapp these phones won't be useful anymore.not even for fun.I always thought that these phones would have been good as far as I could have used at least whatsapp, not Facebook or other application.but this is very limiting now.uff Posted via CB10Ditto, this is why I had kept my Torch, it was a decent backup device for the secondary line I use for selling stuff over the Internet.
Curiously, I had decided to sell it to a friend, but while she asked me to wait for her to save some cash for it, WhatsApp decided to drop support. I'm not sure she'll buy it now and if she does, it'll be a tad lower than what I had hoped to get for it, bummer. Together with the current BlackBerry ID issue I've faced for accessing BBW, the Torch's use is really limited. Posted with my powerful and masterful Passport! Yup, same story here.and I'm also pretty much sure that the same thing is gonna happen by the end of the year with our Passports.whos's ever gonna buy a seond hand 300 phone that doesn't natively support whatsapp in 2016??? Not to mention spending almost twice as much for a new device through their shop online.i'll put mine for sale very soon.
Posted via CB10Indeed, this is a shame, as the Passport is an awesome device. I will most likely end up doing the switch to the PRIV and keep my Passport at home for backup and as a tablet-like device.
It'll be more than enough for email, Internet browsing, Facebook, Skype and viewing documents. I'll take advantage of having the hard shell with stand, so it can well serve me as a mini computer when on the go. Legacy devices, on the other hand, will sadly be little more than feature phones, specially without BIS. Until this happens though, I think there might be a workaround for WhatsApp. Uninstall the current version you have on your Torch.
After restarting, try downloading the version from here: beta.whatsapp.com/ota For Facebook, try: blackberry.com/facebook Once you have both installed on your phone, use BBSAK on your PC to backup the apps: Good luck, let me know if these tips work! Posted with my powerful and masterful Passport!
