High-quality programs provide opportunities for students to experience the ways that business works. And, these best programs hold kids accountable for their learning – through certifications and assessments consistent with the needs and expectations of business. In other words, high quality business programs in our schools are dependent on both teachers and students understanding the knowledge and skills that will matter most in the real world – in your world. And that’s where local business leaders can make a real difference. Here are several things you can do to help ensure high-quality business programs in your community and across the nation: • Advocate: Make it clear to your school board and to your school administration that high-quality business programs are important to you and your community. • Volunteer: Let your school’s business department chairperson know that you’re interested and willing to help – as a speaker, a mentor, a judge, or an advisor. • Sign up: Join the national and contribute 15 minutes a month – online, at your convenience – helping MBA Research understand what matters most in curriculum.

Established in 2012, the MBA Research Business Coalition for Education is a not-for-profit coalition of professional and trade associations and foundations committed to supporting the teaching of critical business concepts and skills in the nation’s high schools. The concept is designed to help strengthen and promote Business Administration programs in Career Technical Education (CTE).

Students, educators, and business leaders are all sure to benefit from shared knowledge and expertise. Ohio Affiliate Meeting Held on September 19 Business, industry, and education leaders gathered earlier this month for an organizational meeting of the Ohio Affiliate to the MBA National Business Coalition for Education. The meeting was hosted by the Ohio Travel Association. The Coalition is a partnership between the Ohio Department of Education, professional/trade associations in Ohio, and MBA Research and Curriculum Center. Emily Passias, Director, Office of Career and Technical Education at the Ohio Department of Education (ODE), spoke to the group about access to CTE across the state of Ohio and the importance of Employer-Education Partnerships. Dee Sturgill, also with the Office of Career and Technical Education at ODE, shared information with the group about enrollment in CTE programs across Ohio, as well as the importance of credentialing in the Business, Marketing, and Finance career pathways.

The Coalition consists of professional/trade associations, foundations, and chambers of commerce. It is a partnership between Coalition members, the Nebraska Department of Education, and MBA Research and Curriculum Center. The goal is to provide a skilled workforce for Nebraska businesses with a focus on management, marketing, finance, and IT. The concept is designed to help strengthen and promote Business Administration programs in Career Technical Education (CTE). AMA Lincoln serves more than 200 members and hundreds of non-member marketing professionals in the Lincoln area. They serve as the resource for area marketers to learn, grow and connect through opportunities that promote education and marketing excellence.

MBA Research looks forward to partnering with AMA - Lincoln as a part of this important initiative in conjunction with the Nebraska Department of Education. Coalition Meeting a Success in Nebraska Business, industry, and education leaders gathered on May 11 in Lincoln at the Nebraska Bankers Association to attend a meeting held by the Nebraska affiliate of the national MBA Business Coalition for Education. Bonnie Sibert and Jacqui Garrison of the Nebraska Department of Education facilitated the meeting along with Rick Mangini of the MBA Research and Curriculum Center. Organizations, associations and chambers represented at the meeting were: AIM Institute, AKSARBEN Foundation, Avenue Scholars, Health Center Association of Nebraska, Nebraska Bankers Association, Nebraska Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Nebraska Independent Community Bankers, Nebraska Retail Federation, Nebraska State Human Resource Management Association, Nebraska State Human Resource Management Association—Lincoln Chapter, Nebraska Business and Industry Council—Economic Development, and Nebraska Business and Industry—Labor. MBA Research is funded through a variety of sources, including membership fees from state education departments, sales to schools and various education and training programs, and through project grants for specific research initiatives.

Corporate and private contributions help the organization provide continuing support of local business and marketing curricula – including the support of research used by student organizations such as BPA, DECA, and FBLA. Contributions to MBA Research are generally tax deductible. (MBA Research is a 501(c)(3) entity, organized as an educational foundation.
